NASA Space Apps Challenge 2024 — Global Finalist achievement image

In 2024, I led Team EcoRangers in the NASA International Space Apps Challenge. Our project, EcoRanger, advanced to the Global Finalist stage and placed among the Top 40 teams worldwide. This achievement allowed us to represent Daffodil International University in one of the world’s largest international innovation competitions.

The EcoRanger Project

EcoRanger is a gamified environmental science learning platform for children. It transforms recreational screen time into a productive learning experience through interactive games based on NASA’s GLOBE protocols.

The platform introduces children to environmental concepts related to the atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, and pedosphere. Its activities use NASA and GLOBE data to teach topics such as air quality, water cycles, soil characteristics, biodiversity, and environmental observation.

My Role

As team leader, I was responsible for coordinating idea development, assigning tasks, guiding prototype preparation, and organizing the final presentation.

I also supported the team in balancing scientific accuracy with child-friendly gameplay. Our goal was to make complex environmental concepts understandable without reducing the educational value of the experience.

Key Features

EcoRanger includes protocol-based games, environmental quizzes, points, badges, progression levels, data maps, and webinar registration. Planned developments include all 40 GLOBE protocols, multiplayer activities, and AI-personalized environmental recommendations.

Significance

Becoming a Global Finalist demonstrated the value of combining environmental education, real scientific data, and interactive technology. The experience strengthened my skills in research-based problem solving, project leadership, technical communication, and collaborative innovation.
